A Case of Growing Skull Fracture
Abstract
Most skull fractures sustained in infancy and early childhood heal normally. Infrequently, a fracture in this age group may enlarge, giving rise to a cranial mass. These lesions have been described since the early 1800¢¥s; however, their exact anatomy, pathology, and natural history remain controversial. We report a case of growing skull fracture, unusual complication of, presumably, non-linear, depressed skull fracture in infancy & childhood. The pathophysiology of this entity, clinical findings and operative findings of the growing skull fracture of childhood are below discussed.
